The western military experts were totally wrong about the status of Russian army in the first place. Mass surrender could happen because what I see the troops are on the verge of mutiny, something like South Vietnamese troops in 1972. Except the logistics are much worse than in Vietnam 1972 and even the air space is contested. No will to fight, everybody just looking a way out of this clusterfuck, even Russian paratroops are leaving.
